Now hear this!
Good morning, Cruise Sea-kers! Sheryl here with your Mooring News for October 7. We’re combining yesterday’s unrecorded updates with today’s news—and checking on our favorite lady shark. Let’s get underway!
First, directly from Holland America’s October 6 announcement: officially confirmed.
Holland America will welcome Arcadia (ar-KAY-dee-uh) from P&O Cruises in 2029, expanding its fleet to twelve ships.
Arcadia shares the same basic design as several Holland America vessels. It will join the line’s fleet transformation program, although its specific upgrades and itineraries haven’t been announced.
There’s another move in this nautical game of musical chairs: Holland America’s announcement also says Queen Anne will transfer from Cunard (kyoo-NARD) to P&O Cruises, with extensive design changes in 2029.
For travelers considering either ship around the transition, confirm which cruise line will operate your particular departure. A familiar ship can deliver a different experience under a different brand.
Next, we’re watching for itineraries, refurbishment details and booking dates. Apparently, the ship transfer portal comes with a gangway. www.hollandamerica.com
Next, directly from Royal Caribbean’s published promotion terms: officially confirmed.
The two-day instant-savings offer that began yesterday ends today, October 7.
Eligible new bookings cover sailings departing from October 7, 2026, through October 7, 2027.
The advertised maximum is seven hundred fifty dollars per stateroom, specifically for suites on cruises lasting six nights or longer.
On those longer cruises, balcony savings are three hundred dollars. Inside and oceanview savings are two hundred twenty-five dollars. Shorter sailings receive smaller discounts.
Here’s the detail to catch before clicking: this particular savings offer cannot combine with Crown & Anchor discounts.
Ask your advisor to compare the actual totals. “Up to” is doing some heavy lifting—and I’m pretty sure it skipped the muster drill.
This offer applies to eligible new bookings; existing reservations don’t automatically receive it. We’ll watch what replaces it after today, but availability and your final quote get the last word. www.royalcaribbean.com
Moving into luxury cruising, Silversea’s October 6 release, published by Royal Caribbean Group, officially confirmed.
Silversea has announced one hundred three voyages for September 2028 through May 2029. General sales open tomorrow, October 8.
The collection spans fifty-six countries and includes twenty-nine new ports of call.
Highlights include culinary voyages built around wine and truffle season in Spain and Italy, plus Asian market itineraries between Singapore and Hong Kong.
There’s also a grand voyage around South America aboard Silver Nova, including scenic cruising along the Antarctic Peninsula.
For travelers who plan vacations around food, culture or a bucket-list journey, tomorrow is a useful date to compare itineraries and suite availability.
Apparently, “What’s for dinner?” can now determine an entire vacation. Finally, someone understands my planning process.
Next, we’re watching the live fares, available suites and detailed excursion offerings when general sales open. www.rclinvestor.com
And now, our favorite shark on an extended shore excursion: Bukangi (boo-KAHNG-ee), in Busan (boo-SAHN), South Korea.
First, Aju Press (AH-joo Press), reporting findings from South Korea’s National Institute of Fisheries Science: credibly reported.
Researchers have identified Bukangi as a roughly ten-foot-long female dusky shark.
That’s right—our finned friend is a lady!
She remains in the canal, where officials have removed the barrier net and are monitoring her condition while waiting for her to leave on her own. www.ajupress.com
But there’s a concerning development.
SBS’s October 7 report, quoting a fisheries researcher: credibly reported.
Researchers have found scrapes on Bukangi’s snout. They suspect contact with canal walls or other structures.
A researcher also described her making a sudden sharp turn when visitors directed strong lights toward her at night. The exact cause of the injuries hasn’t been established.
If you visit, give her space and avoid shining lights at her. We’re watching for further health findings and a safe return to open water.
Come on, girl—we’re rooting for a happy fin-ish. This shore excursion has gone on long enough! news.sbs.co.kr
That’s your Mooring News!
Information was current when recorded. Cruise lines, airlines, ports and authorities can change plans without notice, so verify the details for your particular sailing or trip before acting.
I’m Sheryl with Cruise Sea-kers Travel.
Haze gray and underway.
