Good morning, Cruise Sea-kers! Sheryl here with your Mooring News for October 6. We’ve got a Celebrity itinerary change, a timing update from Virgin, and a check-in with our favorite shark on an extended shore excursion.
First, directly from Celebrity Cruises’ guest letter: officially confirmed.
Celebrity Millennium’s October 5 sailing from Incheon, South Korea, will visit Fukuoka, Japan, instead of Kumamoto on October 8, from seven in the morning until four in the afternoon.
Celebrity says earthquake damage has closed Kumamoto’s port to cruise operations.
If you booked a Kumamoto excursion through Celebrity, it will be automatically canceled and refunded to your original payment method. Replacement Fukuoka excursions are available through Celebrity’s app, website, or onboard excursion desk.
If you booked independently, contact your tour operator yourself. That refund fairy doesn’t work for everybody.
This notice covers the October 5 sailing. We’ll watch for any changes affecting later departures. www.celebritycruises.com
Next, Cruise Industry News is quoting a Virgin Voyages update: credibly reported.
Brilliant Lady’s current Mexican Riviera cruise already replaced Cabo San Lucas with Ensenada because lingering swell made tendering unsafe.
The additional detail reported today is a roughly two-hour shift to the October 6 Mazatlán visit, with arrival at eleven in the morning and departure at eight that evening.
Published reports disagree on those hours, so your onboard schedule gets the final word. If you arranged an independent excursion, confirm the timing before heading ashore. We’ll watch for further adjustments. cruiseindustrynews.com
And now, Bukangi!
From Korea JoongAng Daily’s October 5 interview with a Busan official: credibly reported.
Our shark friend remains in the North Port canal. After the latest rescue stalled, Bukangi swam over the net at high tide and returned to the inner waterway.
Officials are stopping further net attempts for now and monitoring swimming, feeding and water temperatures.
Then, in an October 6 report, SBS says South Korea’s National Institute of Fisheries Science identified Bukangi as a dusky shark after analyzing close-up footage.
That updates earlier reports suggesting a bronze whaler. We’ll keep watching for a safe return to open water. Come on, buddy—we’re rooting for a happy fin-ish! www.koreajoongangdaily.com
Finally, a quick reminder directly from Disney: officially confirmed.
Disney Believe’s reveal is tomorrow, October 7, at four-thirty Eastern—that’s two-thirty Mountain. Disney says it will share the ship’s homeport, itineraries, venues and entertainment.
The reveal announcement itself isn’t new, but tomorrow’s details could help you plan a future sailing. disneyparksblog.com
That’s your Mooring News! Information was current when recorded, but cruise lines, airlines, ports and authorities can change plans without notice. Verify the details for your particular trip before acting.
Haze gray and underway.
